Job summary

  • 3+ years of nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, community engagement, or related relationship-building experience.
  • Demonstrated success cultivating donor or stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills that inspire philanthropic support.
  • Experience coordinating donor communications, stewardship activities, presentations, or fundraising events.
  • Knowledge of donor cultivation, moves management, or fundraising best practices.
  • Experience with donor databases or CRM systems (Raiser’s Edge a plus).
  • CFRE or other fundraising certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify prospective major donors for future portfolio development.

  • Maintain accurate donor records and activity within the organization’s CRM.

Position Overview

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Individual Giving Officer on behalf of a confidential, mission-driven nonprofit organization in Portland, Orego n. This is a full-time, hybrid, direct-hire position with benefits. Position Overview The Individual Giving Officer will cultivate, engage, and steward a portfolio of individual donors while helping identify and qualify future major gift prospects. This relationship-focused fundraising professional will partner with internal teams to deepen donor engagement, execute personalized stewardship strategies, and support long-term philanthropic growth through meaningful donor experiences and strategic outreach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of individual donors with gifts ranging from approximately $1,000–$10,000.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors through personalized engagement strategies.
  • Identify and qualify prospective major donors for future portfolio development.
  • Build strong donor relationships through meetings, outreach, stewardship, and ongoing communication.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and activity within the organization\'s CRM.
  • Collaborate across departments to support fundraising campaigns and donor engagement initiatives.
  • Research new opportunities to strengthen philanthropic partnerships and increase annual giving.
  • Represent the organization professionally within the community and at donor events.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, community engagement, volunteer management, or comparable relationship-building experience.
  • Demonstrated success cultivating donor or stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to inspire philanthropic support.
  • Experience coordinating donor communications, stewardship activities, presentations, or fundraising events.
  • Knowledge of donor cultivation, moves management, or fundraising best practices.
  • Experience utilizing donor databases or CRM systems (Raiser’s Edge experience is a plus).
  • CFRE or other fundraising certifications (Preferred Qualifications).
  • Experience working within nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience with community-centered or equity-focused fundraising.
  • Multilingual abilities are a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary (DOE) range of $77,000-$81,000
