Job summary

Community Teamwork is hiring an Individual Child Aide to provide one-on-one support for children aged 5-13 in the after-school program. You will foster a safe, engaging environment, follow behavior guidance, and collaborate with staff to implement interventions and monitor progress.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, experience with school-age children, and availability 2-6 PM on most weekdays. This role emphasizes teamwork, communication, and adherence to program policies.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with school-age children in educational/childcare setting.
  • Ability to engage positively with individual children.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to pass background check incl. fingerprinting.
  • Recent physical exam and proof of MMR vaccination.
  • Availability 2-6 PM on most weekdays.

Responsibilities

  • Offer one-on-one support to children aged 5-13 in after-school program.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children.
  • Assist in child participation in routines, peer interactions, and activities.
  • Follow supervisor guidance on behavior management.
  • Implement interventions with sensory/emotional support tools.
  • Observe and report on intervention effectiveness for self-regulation.
  • Ensure safety, manage unsafe behaviors, report concerns to Site Manager.
  • Communicate with parents at shift end as coordinated with Site Manager.
  • Report concerns to School Age Inclusion Specialist.
  • Collaborate with School Age and clinical staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings and required trainings.

Position Summary:

The Paraprofessional for School Age Program will foster a safe and supportive environment in the After-School program for children with learning, emotional, or behavioral challenges. The role focuses on providing individualized support to help these children successfully integrate into the program.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  1. Offer one-on-one support to children aged 5-13 with special emotional or learning needs within the after-school program.
  2. Build positive, trusting relationships with children through effective relationship-building techniques.
  3. Assist in the child’s involvement in all program routines, including peer interactions and group activities.
  4. Follow the guidance of their supervisor regarding child behavior management.
  5. Implement recommended interventions, using sensory and emotional support tools, and respond appropriately to the child’s behaviors.
  6. Observe and provide feedback on the effectiveness of interventions to support the child’s self-regulation.
  7. Ensure the child’s safety at all times, manage unsafe behaviors, and report concerns to the Site Manager.
  8. Communicate with parents at the end of the shift, as needed, in coordination with the Site Manager.
  9. Report any concerns to the School Age Inclusion Specialist.
  10. Collaborate professionally with School Age and clinical staff.
  11. Participate in staff meetings and required training sessions.
  12. Uphold the values of CTI – Equity, Integrity, Compassion.

Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Experience working with school-age children in an educational or childcare setting is required.
  3. Ability to engage and connect positively with individual children.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  5. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions.
  6. Ability to pass background check which includes fingerprinting.
  7. Recent physical exam and proof of MMR vaccination are required.
  8. Availability from 2-6 PM on most weekdays is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience with children who have behavioral, developmental, or emotional challenges.
  2. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish, English/Khmer English/Portuguese)
