Job summary

Badger Meter, Inc. is seeking an Accountant – Indirect Tax to manage day-to-day sales and use tax responsibilities and ensure compliance across multiple states. The role administers Avalara and partners with Credit and Sales to ensure accurate tax treatment on customer quotes and invoices.

Responsibilities include preparing periodic returns, maintaining exemption certificates, and supporting audits. A Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and 2–3 years of tax experience are preferred, with strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Two to three years of accounting or tax experience, including at least one year of sales and use tax or other indirect tax experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; ability to learn new software quickly.

Responsibilities

• As Accountant – Indirect Tax, manage day-to-day sales and use tax and other indirect tax functions to ensure compliance and timely filing.
• Serve as primary administrator of Avalara and coordinate with other departments to ensure correct tax treatment on quotes and invoices.
• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns across multiple states and jurisdictions.
• Maintain and monitor exemption certificates and related documentation for audit readiness.
• Collaborate with Credit and Sales to identify and correct tax errors and process credit memos as needed.
