Job summary

SWM International seeks an Indirect Buyer to manage procurement for MRO, shared services and capital expenditures across its US facilities, including two manufacturing sites and a corporate office. The role focuses on sourcing, negotiating, and managing contracts to drive value and compliance.

You will lead RFIs/RFQs, optimize supplier performance, and support budgeting for indirect spend, while ensuring sustainability and alignment with SWM's sourcing strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Procurement, or related field.
• 3–5 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment focusing on indirect categories.
• Experience sourcing and negotiating indirect procurement needs in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies to drive cost savings and risk mitigation.
• Issue and manage purchase orders with accuracy and on-time delivery.
• Conduct RFIs, RFQs, negotiations, and competitive bid events for best value.
• Ensure policy, legal, and sustainability compliance.
• Lead cost-out and continuous improvement with internal and external partners.
• Support budgeting and forecasting for indirect spend categories.
• Prepare leadership reports on procurement performance and savings.
• Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers meeting SWM requirements.
• Negotiate terms, contracts, and long-term supply agreements.
• Monitor supplier performance with KPIs, audits, scorecards, corrective actions.
• Foster long-term partnerships with strategic partners.

Job Description

The Indirect Buyer is responsible for the indirect procurement activities across our US facilities, including 2 manufacturing locations and the corporate office. This role requires expertise in sourcing, negotiating and managing contracts for categories such as MRO, shared services and capital expenditures. The Buyer will leverage strong analytical and negotiation skills to drive value, mitigate risk and support operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with business objectives to drive cost savings, mitigate risk, and enhance supplier performance.
• Issue and manage purchase orders ensuring accuracy, timely delivery and cost and contract adherence.
• Perform RFIs, RFQs, negotiations and competitive bid events to secure best-value service.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements and sustainability goals.
• Lead cost-out and continuous improvement projects in collaboration with internal and external partners.
• Support budgeting and forecasting for indirect spend categories.
• Prepare reports for leadership on procurement performance and cost savings.
• Identify, qualify and manage suppliers that meet SWM’s requirements for quality, cost, service and sustainability.
• Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, and long-term supply agreements based on global and regional sourcing strategies.
• Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, audits, scorecards and corrective action processes.
• Foster long‑term partnerships with strategic partners.

Mill Operations

• Participation in the mill safety program to help provide a safe mill environment for all employees and comply with government safety, health, and environmental regulations. Continuously improve safety and housekeeping practices and maintain a clean, 5S‑compliant workspace.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field preferred)
• 3–5 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on indirect categories.
