The Department of Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for an open rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) position in Indigenous Studies, beginning in the 2027/28 academic year. The successful candidate will have a PhD and an active research record, with a teaching load of four courses per year.

Qualifications

• PhD required in Anthropology or related discipline.
• Active research record in Indigenous Studies or related field.
• Commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Teach four courses per year at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in Indigenous studies.
• Contribute to Penn’s Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) Initiative and cross-disciplinary work.
