Job summary

University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Anthropology invites applications for an open rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) in Indigenous Studies, beginning in 2027/28.

We seek scholars addressing coloniality, indigeneity, and global perspectives, with interest in sovereignty, environment justice, health, media, law, and collaborative decolonial methodologies. Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; mentorship; contribution to NAIS Initiative.

Qualifications

• PhD in Anthropology or a related discipline by start date.
• Active research and publication record in Indigenous Studies or related fields.
• Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses; a four-course load per year.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (four per year).
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in Indigenous Studies and related fields.
• Collaborate across sub-disciplines and contribute to NAIS Initiative.
