The University of Pennsylvania invites applications for an open rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) position in Indigenous Studies within the Department of Anthropology, starting 2027/28. We seek scholars addressing coloniality, indigeneity, governance, climate justice, and Indigenous heritage, who use collaborative and decolonial methods and engage with Penn Museum collections.

Qualifications

• PhD in Anthropology or a related discipline required at time of appointment.
• Active research and publication record in Indigenous Studies.
• Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses, four per year.
• Contribution to Penn’s Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) Initiative.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (four per year).
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Maintain an active research program and publish in the field.
• Engage with collaborative, feminist and decolonial methodologies; connect with Penn Museum collections.
