Job summary

University of Idaho in Moscow is seeking an Academic Retention Specialist to support Indigenous students through the Tribal Nations Student Affairs (TNSA) office and to coordinate the INSTEP program.

The role focuses on retention and completion of undergraduates, collaborates with Advising Services, Student Support Services, Counseling, Testing, and other departments, and involves organizing workshops and seminars.

Qualifications

• Experience with Indigenous populations in higher education or student service programs.
• At least one year mentoring/advising college students.
• Proficient with word processing, email, calendar management and internet research.

Responsibilities

• Meet with students regularly to monitor academic progress.
• Coordinate tutoring opportunities and oversee daily study tables.
• Guide majors exploration, and advise on personal, financial, tribal, and academic matters.
• Research scholarship and internship opportunities.
• Co-teach the TNSA Fall seminar course.
• Collaborate with university resources to provide comprehensive and appropriate services.
