Job summary

Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, seeks a full-time Academic Advisor to support Indigenous undergraduate and graduate students through scholarships and opportunity programs. The role partners with the Center for Indigenous Studies and the Office of Equity & Inclusion to provide holistic advising and program coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities in counseling or advising.
• Valid driver’s license required; ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic advising (academic, personal and social support) for Indigenous scholars.
• Assist students with exploring options, setting goals, and planning outcomes.
• Monitor academic progress and support post-graduation transitions.
• Advise on scholarships and financial aid and explain policies.
• Coordinate with CfIS and other Bard offices to support student success.
• Maintain confidential records and prepare required reports.
• Assist in admissions and recruitment for Indigenous students; travel may be required.
• Supervise student groups and affiliate organizations with mentoring.
