Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced CEI Manager to support our Midwest Region in Indiana.

The role requires a Civil Engineering or Construction Management background with 5+ years in construction inspection and a proven track record on INDOT or federal-aid projects. You will manage field operations, mentor inspectors, liaise with owners and contractors, review plans and submittals, and ensure quality control and safety across multiple concurrent projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with 5+ years of construction inspection experience.
• INDOT experience or federal-aid LPA project experience is preferred.
• INDOT Certified Technician qualifications or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• OSHA 10-Hour Construction certification or ability to obtain.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening per Volkert policy.
• Valid driver's license and clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily field operations on assigned projects ensuring compliance with INDOT standards and contract documents.
• Lead, schedule, and mentor a team of inspectors and technicians across concurrent construction activities.
• Act as liaison between prime contractor, owner, designers, utilities and stakeholders; run progress meetings and prepare minutes.
• Review construction documents, shop drawings, and submittals; track contractor schedule.
• Oversee materials acceptance and testing per INDOT Frequency Manual and QC procedures.
• Maintain records of quantities, daily reports, change orders and pay estimates in Volkert systems.
• Prepare and submit Final Construction Record for closeout and audit.
• Monitor work zone safety, traffic maintenance, environmental commitments, and erosion controls.
• Identify and help resolve field issues and design conflicts with the engineer of record.
