Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Altoona, PA is seeking a Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing - SPS) at the full performance level to work independently.

The incumbent cleans Reusable Medical Devices (RMD) in decontaminate areas and performs more advanced tasks as part of the Sterile Processing Service Line. The role requires knowledge of sterilization, aseptic techniques, and event-related packaging.

Qualifications

• Six months experience demonstrating ability to perform the work.
• One year above high school with health care related courses.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education accepted.
• MSTs must be proficient in spoken and written English.
• Course completion in military/healthcare training may substitute for experience

Responsibilities

• Collect used/soiled reusable medical devices across the medical center.
• Follow PPE and infection prevention procedures during transport of RMD.
• Perform cleaning and disinfection of semi-critical and critical equipment.
• Adhere to safety and infection prevention rules in decontamination areas.
• Prepare, load, and operate sterilizers (steam, Sterrad, Steris, ETO) and related equipment
