Job summary

A community-based therapy organization seeks a Recreational Therapist to provide individualized therapy services for clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role involves creating treatment plans, assessing client needs, and fostering community engagement through recreational activities. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation and be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. The position requires flexible hours and reliable transportation for home and community visits, underscoring a commitment to enhancing client independence.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Reliable transportation to and from clients' locations.
• Must have CPR & First Aid Certificate.
• Must pass a negative TB test before providing services.
• Must have a clean background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one recreational therapy services to clients.
• Assess client needs and develop treatment plans.
• Document services in accordance with Medicaid documentation requirements.
• Encourage client participation in community-based therapy.
• Work independently to manage a caseload.

Skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and with a team

Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities

Familiarity with electronic health/medical record systems

Experience as a Recreational Therapist

Education

Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
