Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is hiring a Portables Technician to inspect, service, and maintain portable fire protection equipment with minimal supervision. You will perform standard service calls, document work, and ensure compliance with NFPA standards and local codes.

The role requires a high school diploma, 3+ years of fire and life safety experience, and a valid driver's license. NICET I+ is preferred; travel to job sites is required as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years in fire and life safety as apprentice or technician.
• NICET Level I or above preferred.
• Ability to work independently with strong safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and servicing of portable extinguishers independently.
• Complete standard service calls without direct supervision with quality and compliance.
• Conduct annual inspections, maintenance, and assist with testing as required.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and procedures.
• Document services performed, including tagging and reporting.
• Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to customers and supervisors.
• Maintain and use tools, equipment, and service vehicles properly.
• Communicate job status and findings with customers and team.
• Follow all safety policies and maintain safety awareness.
• Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
