Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking a Portables Service Technician in Indiana. The role performs inspections, maintenance, and service on portable fire extinguishers and related equipment, delivering quality work without direct supervision while complying with NFPA standards.

You will document services, identify deficiencies, and communicate findings to customers and supervisors. Travel to commercial, industrial, and construction sites is required, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry
• NICET Level I or above preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work independently

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and servicing of portable fire extinguishers and related equipment independently
• Complete standard service calls without direct supervision while ensuring quality and compliance
• Conduct annual inspections, maintenance, and assist with testing as required
• Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and company procedures
• Accurately document services performed, including tagging and reporting
• Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to customers and supervisors
• Travel to job sites as required

Build your career with the industry-leading fire, life safety and security company.The Portables Service Technician is capable of independently performing core technical responsibilities related to portable fire protection equipment. This role is responsible for completing standard inspections, maintenance, and service work without direct supervision while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and company standards. The technician is expected to demonstrate strong technical competency, reliability, and customer service.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and servicing of portable fire extinguishers and related equipment independently.Complete standard service calls without direct supervision while ensuring quality and compliance.Conduct annual inspections, maintenance, and assist with testing as required.Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and company procedures.Accurately document services performed, including tagging and reporting.Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to customers and supervisors.Maintain and properly use tools, equipment, and service vehicles.Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job status and findings.Maintain a high level of safety awareness and follow all company safety policies and procedures.Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.Use hand tools and testing equipment.Travel to job sites as required.Other duties as assigned by management.Education/Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required.3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.NICET Level I or above preferred.Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.Strong understanding of portable fire protection equipment and applicable codes.Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license (if driving role).Other Duties:Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.Performs other duties as assigned by management.Physical Requirements:Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.Ability to lift 50+ pounds.Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work for extended periods.Compensation:$24/hr - $30/hr (Depending on Experience)Benefits and Perks:Excellent payMedical, dental, visionCompany paid life insuranceCompany paid short-term disability401K with employer matchPaid vacation and company holidaysTraining and Career DevelopmentCompany vehicle (if job applicable)Immediate qualification for the ALL In Ownership Plan for all eligible full-time employeesPye-Barker Fire & Safety is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
