Job summary

Durham County Council invites applications for a Supported Accommodation Worker to help young people gain confidence and independence. You will support daily life skills, education plans and access to opportunities in a safeguarding-focused role.

The post includes training, flexible shifts, and a clear pathway to progression within Children’s Services. Applicants must be 22+, hold a driving licence, and be able to obtain a DBS check.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (A-C) or equivalent required.
• Level 3 qualification relevant to working with young people or willingness to work towards it.
• Experience of working with children and young people with complex needs, either professionally or via volunteering.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills expected.

Responsibilities

• Help young people develop confidence, skills and resilience for adulthood.
• Support access to education, training and employment opportunities.
• Assist with budgeting, cooking and other life skills.
• Build trusting relationships to keep young people safe and understood.
• Act as a positive role model, mentor and advocate.
• Support young people through challenges and celebrate achievements.
