Job summary

STAR, Inc. in Norwalk, CT seeks compassionate Residential Instructors to support adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in our residential programs.

You will help residents build independence through daily living activities and community participation. Responsibilities include assisting with medication administration, meal prep, personal care, and transportation, plus implementing individualized plans and documenting health and safety concerns.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Compassionate and respectful approach to supporting others.
• Ability to recognize and encourage the potential in every individual.
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living activities such as medication administration, meal preparation, personal care, transportation to medical appointments and day programs, and participation in community activities.
• Help implement individualized behavioral and support plans; teach, encourage and mentor individuals to develop new skills and reach goals.
• Learn each resident's interests, preferences, and abilities to provide meaningful support and accompany them on community outings and activities.
• Recognize and report health and safety concerns and maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation.
• Contribute to making a genuine difference every day through small moments of support and larger milestones.
