Job summary

STAR, Inc. in Norwalk, CT seeks compassionate Residential Instructors to support adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in our residential programs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily living activities including medication administration, meal preparation, and personal care.
  • Provide transportation to medical appointments and day programs.
  • Support individuals in community activities and skill-building toward personal goals.
  • Implement and follow individualized behavioral and support plans.
  • Document health, safety concerns, and daily progress accurately and on time.
  • Promote independence and a compassionate, respectful approach in all interactions.

Residential Instructor

$18.50 per hour

What You'll Do as a Residential Instructor

As a Residential Instructor, you will play an important role in helping the individuals we support live as independently and actively as possible. Your responsibilities may include assisting with daily living activities such as medication administration, meal preparation, personal care, transportation to medical appointments and day programs, and participation in community activities.

You will also help implement individualized behavioral and support plans. Through teaching, encouragement, and positive mentoring, you will help individuals develop new skills and work toward their personal goals.

Every person is different, and you will learn about their interests, preferences, and abilities so you can provide meaningful support. You may accompany individuals on community outings, recreational activities, and other experiences that promote greater participation and independence.

Residential Instructors are also responsible for recognizing and reporting health and safety concerns and maintaining complete, accurate, and timely documentation.

Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to make a genuine difference every day-both through the small moments of support and the larger milestones you help individuals achieve.

Schedule

Our residential group homes operate 24 hours a day, providing a variety of scheduling options. Positions are available for full-time and part-time employees, with shifts that may include:

  • Mornings
  • Afternoons
  • Evenings
  • Overnight shifts
  • Weekends
