Job summary

The Arc of Butte County is seeking an Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructor in Paradise, CA. You will work one-on-one with adults with developmental disabilities to build daily living, social, and community skills, empowering independence and participation in the community.

Responsibilities include goal-focused, person-centered instruction, progress monitoring, travel between client homes and activities using a personal vehicle, and coordinating with families and other professionals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; experience in social services, education, or related fields preferred
• Patience, compassion, and a strengths-based approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to learn and grow in a coaching/support role
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized skill development to support independence in daily living, social, and community skills
• Support clients in achieving personal goals through structured, person-centered instruction
• Monitor progress and adjust support strategies as needed
• Drive between community-based settings (such as client homes, appointments, and community activities) and transport clients as part of service delivery using a reliable personal vehicle
• Support community integration and social participation
• Collaborate with families and other support professionals to ensure coordinated care and support
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and progress
• Other duties as assigned
