Job summary

Las Trampas School, Inc. is seeking an Independent Living Services (ILS) instructor to provide one-on-one training in home and community settings to individuals with developmental disabilities in Lafayette, CA. You will work as part of an Interdisciplinary Team, implementing ISPs and supporting progress toward ISP goals.

The role requires strong communication skills, a valid California driver's license, and a vehicle for transporting clients as needed. Experience in ILS is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• AA Degree or higher desired (experience may substitute for education).
• At least 1 year of experience in ILS or teaching individuals who are developmentally disabled.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Personal vehicle, valid CA driver's license, and acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of community-based services for people with developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations providing rights to persons with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and provide Independent Living Services to people with disabilities in home and community per ISP goals.
• Participate as an interdisciplinary team member and maintain relationships with key team members.
• Assist with development/implementation of ISPs.
• Assist with quarterly meetings, needs assessment, progress toward ISP goals, data collection, and addressing concerns.
• Provide instruction on independent living skills using various teaching methods.
• Develop teaching plans in ISP areas (money management, housing, meals, safety, self-advocacy, etc.).
• Document services per policies and maintain clear client records.
• Attend monthly meetings/trainings and comply with policies.
