Job summary

Merrick, Inc. is seeking In-Home Supports (IHS) Caregivers to assist adults with IDD in their homes and community. You’ll help clients build independence, work toward personal goals, and participate in meaningful activities tailored to each person’s needs and interests.

Ideal candidates enjoy independent work, relationship building, and creating meaningful experiences, with emphasis on safety, dignity, and positive interactions in a supportive home-based environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• 6–12 months of experience supporting individuals with IDD preferred.
• Experience assisting with personal cares (toileting/brief changes) preferred.
• Ability to work independently and provide dependable one-on-one support.
• Ability to use electronic devices, databases, and internet-based applications.
• Ability to transport clients in your personal vehicle with required insurance.
• Willingness to complete medication certification if required.
• Commitment to a safe, respectful and inclusive environment.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Help with everyday needs, routines, and life skills.
• Work with clients toward personal goals and greater independence.
• Plan and participate in activities and community outings.
• Provide transportation to activities and other community destinations.
• Assist with personal cares including toileting, brief changes, bathing, feeding, and meal prep.
• Support coping skills and positive interactions.
• Assist with medications when trained.
• Provide mobility and transfer assistance with adaptive equipment as needed.
• Complete required documentation related to services and goals.
• Follow individualized support plans and safety procedures.
