Job summary

Vista Life Innovations is seeking a Life Skills Instructor in Westbrook, CT to support members in achieving independence through home and community-based instruction.

Responsibilities include one-to-one or small group teaching on communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management, plus assisting with daily program operations and documentation. A high school diploma and driving license are required; CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 90 days is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and 1 year related experience.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record as defined by Vista.
• CPR and First Aid, PMT certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• ABI ILST Certification (ABI - Acquired Brain Injury ILST -Independent Life Skills Trainer) is a plus.
• Utilize technology for instruction, communication, and administrative purposes.

Responsibilities

• Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for members in homes and in the local community to reach key goals and milestones in their journey towards independence.
• Provide one-to-one or small group instruction and activities focusing on communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management.
• Follow/implement individualized strategies to help the member gain independence.
• Foster relationship building and support social interactions with peers.
• Assist with ongoing day-to-day operations of programs, including household management.
• Complete all necessary documentation utilizing applicable systems.
