Job summary

Holleman Elementary School in Waller, Texas is seeking a Paraprofessional-Inclusive Practices to assist with the instructional and behavioral needs of students with disabilities within general education and resource settings.

Under supervision of a certified teacher and principal, this non-exempt role supports instruction, data collection, and classroom setup. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED; Texas Education Aide Certification preferred; two years' experience with children.

Qualifications

• Ability to work well with children with disabilities
• Ability to follow verbal and written directives
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Bilingual (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Adapt instructional materials under the direction of the teacher
• Work one-one-one and/or in small groups as directed by the teacher
• Collect data regarding student progress
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
• Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepared required reports
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
• Help manage the behavior of assigned students
• Assist students with disabilities according to individual needs for instruction
• Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills
• Supervise students throughout the day in various locations
• Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of assigned students
• Maintain familiarity with district curriculum and initiatives
• May assist with specialized services such as ISET/RESET/ECSE/ CANS/SAILS
• Maintain confidentiality
