Job summary

Alpha Public Schools in East San José is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support scholars with high needs in a Center for Learning and Inclusive Pathways setting. You will plan and deliver targeted instruction with teachers, monitor progress on IEP goals, and provide behavior support.

The role emphasizes collaboration with families and educators to foster inclusive learning. AA degree or two years of college and Praxis testing are required; competitive benefits and opportunities

Qualifications

• AA degree required (BA preferred) or completion of two years of college (72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours) or passing Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Experience working with students with high needs.
• Commitment to serving traditionally underserved communities; approximately 80% of Alpha’s students are from under-resourced communities and will be the first in their families to go to college.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons to individuals and small groups of scholars (with special needs and without) that target remedial skill needs, IEP goals, and general education content.
• Provide in the moment behavior support and coaching, and respond to crisis behavior as necessary
• Analyze data and conduct assessments to track student progress on IEP goals and assist Education specialist(s) in the completion of quarterly progress reports
• Build Relationships by collaborating with special education teachers, Managing Director of Special Education, general education teachers, school leadership team, and families regarding student needs and progress
