The Town of Cary is seeking a Program Specialist- ACCESS to support ACCESS Cary programs for individuals with disabilities. The role emphasizes listening, communication, advocacy, and relationship-building with participants, families, and staff.

The position involves coordinating classes, events, and inclusive services under the PRCR department. Responsibilities include planning and implementing recreation programs, coordinating locations and registrations, hiring and training part-time staff

Qualifikationen

• Requires degree in related field and experience with individuals with disabilities.
• First aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain.
• Flexible to evenings and weekends; ability to work independently and with a team.
• Excellent listener and communicator; ability to connect with diverse audiences.

Aufgaben

• Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing recreation programs for individuals with disabilities.
• Coordinate scheduling of program locations; assist with registration and fee setup.
• Assist with marketing ACCESS Cary programs and services.
• Enter and update program information in RecTrac and prepare program guide materials.
• Coordinate program materials, equipment, staffing, and facility setups; assist with setup and cleanup.
• Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and guiding part-time staff and volunteers.
• Support Inclusion Services by assisting with individualized accommodation plans with participants, families, and staff.
• Observe participants to identify support needs; adjust accommodations as needed.
• Build positive relationships with participants, families, and community members; develop local resource familiarity.
• Provide staff training on disability awareness, inclusion, accessibility, and accommodations.
• Handle participant registration, maintain records, respond to inquiries, and perform administrative duties.
• Support assigned projects and other program-related responsibilities.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.
