Job summary

City of Miami Beach is seeking an enthusiastic Recreation Aide to provide one-on-one support for children with special needs within recreational programs. The role involves supervising activities, evaluating participation, and implementing behavior plans with supervision from the Park Manager.

You will assist in adapting activities, facilitating social interaction, and coordinating diverse programs across locations, including evenings and weekends, to support the city's missions.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent in Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, Recreation, or related field required.
• Two years' experience working directly with children and/or adults with special needs preferred.
• Shift work may include nights, weekends, and holidays; CPR/First Aid certifications expected within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervises participants in sports, games, and recreational activities.
• Evaluates participants' skill level and participation capacity.
• Implements behavior plans and maintains related documentation.
• Assists participants to adapt to activities and facilitates social interactions.
• Conducts diverse recreational activities and prepares fields for games.
