Job summary

City of Miami Beach seeks a Recreation Assistant to assist in planning and leading activities for all ages at City facilities. You will promote programs, ensure safety, perform data entry, and provide excellent customer service.

Expect shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays, with duties spanning setup, inspections, clerical tasks, and occasional transport of participants. CPR/First Aid within 6 months is required.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or teaching group recreational or educational activities.
• Formal coursework in education, physical education, recreation, art, psychology, health, music or theatre.
• CPR and First Aid certifications within 6 months of hire.
• Shift work includes nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, promoting, and leading recreational activities for all ages.
• Promote programs at City facilities and assist in event promotion.
• Ensure safety, conduct first aid, and enforce rules and regulations.
• Maintain inventories of supplies and prepare field setups for activities.
• Data entry, enrollment and reporting using computer software.
• Provide excellent customer service and public advisement on activities.
• Open/close facilities and manage equipment as needed.
• Transport participants as required and manage registrations/payments.
