YMCA of San Diego is seeking staff to support participants with special needs in the Expanded Learning Programs. You will work individually to facilitate inclusion, ensure safety and provide behavior support within daily YMCA activities.

You will lead age-appropriate activities, monitor participant wellbeing, and communicate with families and supervisors to ensure quality programming. A background in behavior modification is desirable and the role is in-person, afternoon shifts in San Diego

Formación

• Minimum 18 years of age and high school graduate or GED.
• 1–2 years advanced experience working with participants with special needs/social-emotional/behavior support needs ages 0-14.
• Experience in behavior modification strategies and reinforcement systems desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Help facilitate inclusion of participant into typical program day.
• Work individually with a participant with special needs.
• Ensure safety, well-being of participants including physical and personal care hygiene.
• Implement behavior strategies that support the participant in the program.
• Provide continual supervision and be a positive role model to participants.
• Facilitate activities, academic enrichment, games, crafts and other program activities.
• Create an age-appropriate learning environment that fosters creativity and individuality.
• Maintain daily communication with supervisor, staff, participants and parents.
• Follow YMCA standards, goals and objectives.
