Job summary

The YMCA in Winter Park, FL is seeking a qualified group exercise instructor to provide high quality classes, ensure safety, and deliver excellent customer service. You will create inclusive workouts, modify for abilities, and help members achieve health goals.

Responsibilities include leading classes, staying aware of wellness trends, arriving prepared, guiding participants with clear instructions, enforcing safety rules, and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, AED Certification preferred; must obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to choreograph music with group exercise movements.
• Desire and ability to work with people of all ages, improving health and fitness.

Responsibilities

• Creates and leads an inclusive workout that motivates participants to reach their highest potential.
• Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• Arrives prepared and on time to all classes with clear and easy to understand instructions for all members.
• Consistently uses verbal and visual cues in a timely manner and coordinates all movement with music.
• Ability to adjust choreography/workout on the spot based on the needs and abilities of participants.
• Actively recruits and retains group exercise participants.
• Connects and engages with participants during class verbally and with eye contact.
• Motivates members in support of meeting personal and program goals.
• Maintains and cleans equipment according to schedule and safety policies.
