Job summary

Ledyard Middle School in Connecticut is seeking a Paraeducator for the SES program. The Paraeducator, under supervision of a certified staff member, assists with students to meet instructional goals and objectives.

Responsibilities include supporting reading, math, and language arts, working with students in groups, assisting with assessments, preparing materials, and maintaining records. Salary starts at $18.79 per hour, 28.5 hours per week, following the school calendar.

Qualifications

• Two years of college credit or an associate's degree or Para Pro Assessment satisfied.
• Experience with inclusive and small-group settings preferred.
• Experience with special education students preferred.
• Willingness to be trained to support instructional and behavioral needs.
• Work in school environments; some outdoor activity possible.
• May require bus supervision and transportation for some students.
• Travel between schools may be required.
• May assist students with emotional/behavioral needs.
• 28.5 hours per week, follows the school calendar.
• Starting pay of $18.79 per hour with a $0.75 SES stipend.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist staff with administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Prepare instructional materials and reinforce instructional goals.
• Maintain records documenting student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavior management to keep students on task.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist students with special needs to maximize inclusion and participation.
• Follow safety rules and assist program staff as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
