Job summary

The Flatbush YMCA, part of the YMCA of Greater New York, seeks an Inclusion Specialist to support Afterschool programming for diverse youth. You will help create a safe, inclusive space, develop accommodations, and work with a compassionate team to promote positive social, emotional, and physical growth.

Required is a Bachelor’s in a related field and at least two years of youth experience; Pediatrics CPR/First Aid is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Social Sciences, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children under the age of 13.
• Current Pediatrics CPR or First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively welcome and develop programming in partnership with the Content Specialist to serve a diverse group of participants.
• Develop and implement inclusive outreach strategies to connect with individuals facing barriers to participation.
• Foster a safe, welcoming environment where all participants and families feel valued.
• Manage participants’ Individualized Accommodation Plans and behavioral support logs.
• Collaborate with staff, caregivers, and teachers to identify behavior support techniques.
• Guide staff on implementing behavioral strategies in the learning environment.
• Coordinate with DYCD and other agencies for specialized supports as needed.
• Provide trauma-informed programming and mental health resource referrals.
