Job description

Overview

The Inbound Team Lead contributes to Langham's goals of exceptional customer service, quality, process improvement, and profitability by ensuring that inbound associates unload shipments from the client into the warehouse without damage, visually inspect and record items accurately, and put them away into the correct location. The Lead is a direct link between associates and the supervisor, distributing daily work orders, ensuring orders are correctly completed and recorded, and ensuring shipments go out according to schedule.

The Lead ensures productivity and quality goals are met on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis; maximizes productivity and efficiency through the use of RF guns and cross-training. This position will assist with/lead training for new starts within the department and cross-train veterans in other functions; and is responsible for planning adequate manpower to meet daily schedules and appropriately matching associate skills with duties of the job.

The Lead delegates investigation of problems such as receiving and put-away errors, initiates collaboration with the client\'s IT team for uncontrollable scenarios, and communicates across departments to reach resolution. The Lead also ensures that all work is done according to safety and security guidelines, with particular attention to guidelines regarding hazardous materials and those mandated by the Department of Homeland Security.

Key Outcomes Expected
  • Communicate with the customer to resolve inaccuracies in shipments.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy by entering material into the data base, ideally via the use of an RF gun.
  • Use a mobile computer station for daily inbound tasks.
  • Put inventory away in the correct location without damaging product or equipment.
  • Provide direct assistance to the Supervisor by helping assign workloads and expedite workflow.
  • Ensure quality checks are made at the appropriate stages of inbound and put-away.
  • Effectively perform basic lead responsibilities of coaching, training, and performance.
  • Maintain a team environment in the warehouse; cross-train all employees in the department.
  • Identify and arrange appropriate manpower needs on a daily basis and obtain Supervisor approval to issue overtime as needed.
  • Prepare daily work schedules and issue written and oral instructions, ensuring that orders (pick tickets) are distributed in a timely manner.
  • Assign daily tasks based on individual team member skills (e.g., picking, driving, banding, QC, cycle counts, receiving, put away).
  • Maximize efficiency through the use of RF guns in all applicable areas.
  • Assist employees with work process problems.
  • Monitor warehouse associates\' productivity and make adjustments as needed.

  • Must be able to operate computer equipment.
  • Work is performed in a warehouse environment subject to temperature variances that include occasional function in a cold environment.
