Job summary

Colonna's Shipyard is seeking an In‑Yard Material Coordinator to handle shipping, receiving, and movement of materials across the yard. The role is full-time and onsite with potential non-standard hours to meet business needs.

Responsibilities include validating tag info, inspecting shipments, coordinating material transport, moving shop materials, and operating forklifts or pallet jacks. Travel may be required. Colonna’s offers competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Must have a HS Diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of related experience.
  • Position may require the obtainment of certifications such as a Man Aloft Certification, Shipyard Competent Person Certification or CPR Certification.
  • May require ability to obtain and maintain appropriate level of security clearance depending on the contract.
  • Must be willing to work 2nd and 3rd shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to travel as required.

  • Transport and dispose of trash and scrap in designated bins.
  • Oversee yard laydown area and log daily material movement.

Job description

Purpose: Colonna's Shipyard is seeking an In‑Yard Material Coordinator who will perform manual duties related to shipping, receiving, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies, inclusive of final material disposition and inter‑facility material movements.

In‑Yard Material Coordinator

This full‑time, onsite position may require occasional flexibility in working hours as well as hours beyond a standard workweek to accommodate business needs.

Job Description:
  • Validates tag information against visual inspection of material and determines correct transportation method for material throughout yard.
  • Examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and correspond with ship’s superintendent to rectify.
  • Coordinates transportation of materials, inclusive of totes, blocking wood, barrels, and paint cans to various berms for disposal.
  • Identifies and coordinates transportation of shop materials and tools to and from job sites, inclusive of gangways, lines, leads, welding machines, service equipment.
  • Responsible for the protection, loading and movement of customer furnished & government furnished material and equipment, IAW stated policies and requirements.
  • Capable to Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
  • Transport and dump trash tubs, steel tubs and scrap tubs throughout the yard into appropriate bins for final disposition.
  • Oversee and maintain yard laydown area.
  • Maintains and Coordinates transportation as requested by Down River Trade Coordinator for Offsite projects.
  • Log and report on daily material movement as requested by Trade Leadership and / or Program Team.
Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in an industrial, shipyard, engineering, or construction environment preferred.
Security Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain access to government installations (DBIDS).
  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
Travel Requirements:
  • Minimal Travel; 10% or less.
Physical Requirements:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Must be physically agile to perform tasks in naval ships. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces, including enter and moving through manholes.
  • While performing the duties of this job, you may frequently be required to stand, walk & sit; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, squat, kneel, twist and crawl.
  • Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.
  • Moving about accomplishing tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.

Pay Range: $22.00 - $29.00

Determination of base salary considers various factors, including but not limited to scope of responsibility, candidate’s relative and specific experience, education level, key skills, as well as other business considerations.
