Job summary

Charles River Laboratories is seeking a Research Associate to join our Insourcing Solutions team in Lexington, MA. You will conduct in vivo study work in rodents for multiple IS clients to support research programs and collaborate with veterinary staff to maintain animal health and welfare in compliance with guidelines.

The role requires training, handling and dosing, tissue collection, data recording, IACUC protocol review, and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; ALAT certification or 2+ years lab animal experience preferred.
• Option 2 requires A.A./A.S. or B.A./B.S. in animal or life sciences with 6–12 months lab animal experience.
• Basic in vivo technical skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle and restrain animals per approved procedures.
• Formulation and dosing calculations.
• Dosing and inoculation of test articles via basic techniques.
• Basic tissue and blood collection.
• In-life monitoring of study animals.
• Maintain lab records and quality/data integrity.
• Document experimental data in notebooks or electronic files.
• Perform humane euthanasia as specified by guidelines and oversight.
• Collaborate with staff across teams to complete assignments.
• Assist Vet Techs and Veterinarians with follow-up checks and treatments.
