Job summary

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System in Savannah, Georgia seeks an In-School Suspension Paraprofessional to support the ISP program under the Principal’s direction.

The role reports to the School Principal or Assistant Principal, is a 200-day full-time position (Grade 101, Non-exempt), with responsibilities including implementing ISP, assisting teachers, and maintaining records for student progress.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Highly Qualified criteria: 2 years of college credits or Associate’s degree or passing state assessment.
• Ability to manage the behavior of students in in-house suspension.
• Knowledge of basic high school curriculum content and lesson plan design.
• Ability to work cooperatively with adults and students.
• Basic computer operations and common business software.

Responsibilities

• Implements an ISP based on student academic and behavioral needs.
• Delivers instructional support by assisting students with assignments from teachers.
• Maintains records for the in-house suspension program.
• Maintains high standards of classroom behavior.
• Makes provisions for communication with students and parents about the ISP.
• Participates in in-service training programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
