Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an ISS Teacher/Paraprofessional to help set a constructive classroom tone for students assigned to ISS and to ensure completion of assignments. The role requires coordinating with administrators when students fall short of expectations and supporting teachers in a positive learning environment.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of college, an associate degree or higher, and must obtain the Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education; an associate’s degree or higher, or equivalent demonstrated via assessment.
• Must obtain and maintain Paraprofessional Certificate issued by Georgia PSC.
• Ability to work effectively in the classroom with students and teachers, creating a positive learning environment.
• General computer proficiency.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and parents; bilingual preferred for ESOL position.
• Knowledge of first aid techniques.
• Physical demands: ability to stand/walk most of the day; lift 20–60 lbs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Set a tone for students assigned to ISS.
• Ensure all students complete assignments.
• Communicate with admin when students are not meeting expectations.
