Job summary

Keswick Hall in Charlottesville, VA seeks an In-Room Dining Attendant to deliver prompt, accurate room service with a friendly, guest-focused attitude. You will describe menu items, relay special requests, and ensure timely delivery to guestrooms.

The role requires strong English communication, multitasking, and the ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. A high school diploma and 0–2 years in food service, plus TIPS Certification and CPR/First Aid, are preferred.

Overview

This is the setting for Keswick Hall, an impressive 80-room luxury boutique hotel nestled on 600 acres which recently re-opened in 2021 after renovations. Home to the prestigious Keswick Golf Club, Marigold Restaurant, by Jean-Georges, a new luxury spa and sports and aquatics center.

In-Room Dining Server’s responsibility is to offer prompt, correct, precise and friendly service while accommodating guests’ specific requests and ensuring timeliness of service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides exceptional knowledge of food & beverage menu items as well as information regarding preparation methods.
• Communicates guest orders including any special needs or requests using the hotel’s point-of-sales system and checks completed orders with the guest’s original order; transport items to the guestin a timely manner.
• Anticipates guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and offer suggestions, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests.
• Properly and accurately close guest checks; process cash and credit card payments; properly settle voided checks or complimentary items.
• Deliver food orders including any special needs or requests to the guest in-room, check completed kitchen orders with the order taker or guest’s original order; transport items to the guestroom in a timely manner to ensure proper food quality.
• Greet guests, describe selected items to the guest using interesting, and vivid descriptions of each item’s, origin, taste, and preparation methods; communicate options for removal of trays and dishware; respond to request for tray removal according to established time standards.
• Breakdown, clean and set-up of room service tables, condiment set-ups, flatware, dishware, and room service side stations.
• Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong knowledge of food & beverage.
