Job summary

Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) seeks a part-time, temporary Middle School Program Facilitator to support grades 6–8 in Harlem. The role is in-person at PAL Harlem with two Harlem-based partner schools, offering structured Fall and Spring programming.

The position runs Sept 2026–May 2027 with up to 11 hours weekly, plus pre-approved travel or events. Compensation is $25/hour, with paid orientation and required training in September 2026.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of teaching or direct experience with middle school-aged youth (approximately ages 11–14).
  • Experience facilitating project-based or experiential learning.
  • Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and proficient with Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate lessons and adapt instruction to students' developmental needs.
  • Support HEAF Achieve and HEAF Inspire through lesson prep, facilitation, and supervision.
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity and participation.
  • Build positive relationships with middle school students in individual and group settings.
  • Incorporate hands-on and real-world learning experiences.
  • Monitor student engagement and progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Complete weekly administrative tasks using HEAF's systems and communicate with program leadership.
  • Chaperone students during off-site programming and field experiences.
