Job summary

Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) is seeking a part-time Middle School Program Facilitator to support grades 6-8. You will help deliver engaging lessons, manage classrooms, and maintain student records while communicating with families.

The role runs September 2026–May 2027 with a Fall/Spring calendar. Core schedule includes Tuesdays & Wednesdays 5:00-7:00 PM at PAL Harlem, with travel to partner schools; compensation is $25/hour.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
• Graduate students are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate lessons and adapt instruction to students' developmental and learning needs.
• Support HEAF Achieve and HEAF Inspire through lesson preparation, facilitation, classroom management, setup, student supervision, family communication, and outreach.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, confidence, and active participation.
• Build positive relationships with middle school students in one-on-one and group settings.
• Incorporate hands-on and real-world learning experiences.
• Monitor student engagement and progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Complete weekly administrative tasks using HEAF's check-in and tracking systems.
• Maintain ongoing communication with program leadership regarding student progress, curriculum implementation, and program needs.
• Chaperone students during off-site programming and educational field experiences.
