Job summary

Summit Public Schools in California seeks a Math Intervention Tutor to provide targeted, small-group and one-on-one support to students not meeting grade-level expectations, using Illustrative Math and Teach to One frameworks.

You will monitor progress, adjust strategies under the Manager of Math Practice, and collaborate with Lead Teachers, SPED, and Multilingual Learner staff to ensure cohesive support.

Qualifications

• Commitment to Summit’s mission and belief that all students deserve rigorous instruction.
• Experience tutoring, mentoring, supporting, or working with middle or high school students.
• Ability to implement established lessons and adjust tutoring when needed.
• Ability to build meaningful relationships with students.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to implement feedback quickly and improve practice.

Responsibilities

• Guide students through targeted practice in foundational math skills and vocabulary.
• Pre-teach and re-teach key concepts to access core instruction.
• Deliver targeted small-group and individual math tutoring during Support Blocks and SDL.
• Use assessment data to adjust tutoring strategies with guidance from the Manager of Math Practice.
• Coordinate with teachers to share progress and align targets.
• Maintain daily progress trackers for real-time visibility.
• Collaborate with Special Education and Multilingual Learner staff for cohesive support.
• Participate in site observations and professional development.
