Job summary

University Of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (CRMC) in La Plata, MD, seeks a licensed Physical Therapist for a PRN weekends/holidays position. You will evaluate patients, develop and adjust treatment plans, document care, and collaborate with a diverse healthcare team.

Requires Doctor of Physical Therapy, Maryland licensure, and current BLS. Qualified candidates demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Physical Therapy required; licensed prior to 2016 acceptable per licensing history.
• Maryland Licensed Physical Therapist.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

• Performs physical therapy services to patients in accordance with standards, Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, and policies.
• Performs patient assessments and develops individualized treatment plans to improve movement and manage pain.
• Develops and reevaluates treatment objectives; records evaluations and care in the medical record.
• Educates patients and families on evaluation results and treatment plans.
• Mentors and trains clinical team members and eligible students.
• Delivers patient-centered care and supports continuous performance improvement.

Job description

The University Of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is located in La Plata, Maryland. The hospital has approximately 110 beds, and approximately 260,000 sq. ft. of space. There are five Operating Rooms, approximately 41 Exam/Treatments rooms in the Emergency Department, a Wound Care Center, and Infusion Center located within the hospital campus. CRMC also operates approximately Medical Practices, to include an Endoscopy Center, and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center that are located off-site all within an approximate five-mile radius of the main hospital Campus.

Delivers physical therapy services through the evaluation of patient needs, goal determination, and development of treatment plans according to the principles and practices of physical therapy.

This is a PRN - Weekends and Holidays position

• Performs physical therapy services to patients in accordance with generally accepted standards, Maryland Department of Health Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, code of ethics, and departmental and/or organizational policies and procedures.
• Performs patient assessments and develops individualized treatment plan programs for clients/patients to improve movement, manage pain, and/or prevent injury.
• Develops and maintains long- and short-term treatment objectives and re-evaluates and modifies treatment programs as necessary.
• Records patient evaluations, re-evaluations and care provided in the medical record, in accordance with departmental documentation standards.
• Informs patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members of evaluation results and plan for treatment and refers for further evaluation.
• Plans and provides therapy education and counseling to individuals.
• Provides mentorship and training to clinical team members and/or students as eligible based on departmental needs.
• Demonstrates interdisciplinary, safe, patient-centered care and delivers excellent customer service.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and suggests areas for improvement to colleagues in a tactful and considerate manner. Proposes performance improvement topics and alternate treatment techniques to improve therapy services.
• Reports clinical and operational issues to departmental leadership and assists in their resolution to assure high quality care and efficient departmental operations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Experience

Education

Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree required. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree accepted if licensed prior to 2016 (per previous licensing requirement)

Licensure/Certifications

Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Maryland

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
