Job description

Position

Physical Therapist PRN – Weekends and Holidays.

Job Requirements

The University Of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is located in La Plata, Maryland. The hospital has approximately 110 beds and 260,000 sq. ft. of space, including five operating rooms, 41 exam/treatment rooms in the Emergency Department, a wound care center, and an infusion center. CRMC also operates medical practices such as an endoscopy center and outpatient rehabilitation center within a five‑mile radius of the main campus.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver physical therapy services, evaluating patient needs, determining goals, and developing treatment plans.
  • Perform physical therapy services in accordance with accepted standards, Maryland Department of Health Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, code of ethics, and departmental policies.
  • Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized treatment programs to improve movement, manage pain, and prevent injury.
  • Maintain short‑ and long‑term treatment objectives, re‑evaluating and modifying programs as necessary.
  • Document patient evaluations, re‑evaluations, and care provided in the medical record per departmental standards.
  • Communicate evaluation results and treatment plans to patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members; refer for further evaluation when needed.
  • Provide therapy education and counseling to patients.
  • Mentor and train clinical team members and students as needed.
  • Demonstrate interdisciplinary, patient‑centered care and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and suggest improvements to colleagues.
  • Report clinical and operational issues to departmental leadership and assist in resolution.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and support team confidentiality.
Work Experience & Qualifications
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy degree required; bachelor’s or master’s accepted if licensed prior to 2016.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Maryland.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to access, review, and integrate information from multiple sources to develop treatment plans.
  • Strong verbal, written, and non‑verbal communication skills, including the ability to instruct others.
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain rapport with patients.
  • Collaborative teamwork skills with a diverse healthcare team.
