Job summary

Kemper Corporation in Richardson, TX is seeking a Paralegal to provide general paralegal support for the office. This in-office role offers exposure to discovery, case preparation, and client communications, with opportunities for growth in the legal field.

Must have a paralegal certificate or at least 6 months of experience drafting discovery documents and summarizing records. Occasional remote work may be available.

Qualifications

• Must have a paralegal certificate or a minimum of 6 months experience drafting discovery documents and discovery responses, summarizing claims files and medical records, and interviewing clients.
• Typing speed of 28 wpm with 95% accuracy.
• Familiar with general office equipment (calculator, fax, copy machine, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Experience with Word/Excel and legal research software preferred.
• In-office work with occasional work-from-home opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with preparation of responses to discovery and meet with clients when necessary.
• Help prepare cases for trial and send out discovery requests.
• Maintain records and monitor discovery compliance; assist with investigation of cases.
• Draft motions, briefs and other documents; perform legal research as requested.
• Coordinate with clients, claims adjusters, attorneys, and providers to obtain information.
• Set up legal file jackets and maintain case summaries.
