Job summary

JSI's Lubbock, TX office seeks a Manager, Network Engineering to lead the Broadband IP team, directing fiber access and DWDM/optical transport engineering while delivering client results.

You will manage Engineers Levels I–III, drive project margins, staffing, and technical standards, serving as a trusted advisor on network strategy.

This role requires 5+ years in fiber access or DWDM, 2+ years in leadership, and hands-on consulting experience. Travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EE/CS/IT or equivalent.
• 5+ years in fiber access or DWDM/optical transport engineering.
• 2+ years in team leadership or people management.
• Experience in consulting or client-facing roles.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage engineers delivering fiber access and DWDM work.
• Own team performance, utilization, margins, and delivery quality.
• Lead staffing, performance reviews, career development, and promotions.
• Design and scale multi-vendor network strategies (PON or DWDM).
• Oversee technical specs, BOMs, and designs across projects.
• Review designs and ensure output quality and accuracy.
• Serve as lead engineer on select client engagements.
• Act as client-facing advisor on fiber access and transport strategy.
• Partner with Director on staffing and standards.
• Enforce engineering standards and quality processes.
