Job summary

Independence Realty Trust, Inc. seeks a Corporate Counsel to work directly with the General Counsel, handling a broad range of duties spanning real estate, finance, and corporate transactions. You will review and manage corporate contracts and provide legal support across the multifamily portfolio.

The role partners closely with Operations, Asset Management, IT, and Risk Management to mitigate risk and keep the company compliant and competitive.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law.
• 5–7 years of legal experience.
• In-house or law firm experience in risk management, real estate and/or multifamily matters.
• Strong knowledge of commercial real estate, finance, landlord-tenant and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate purchase agreements and related documents for multi-family assets.
• Plan and coordinate due diligence for real estate transactions.
• Oversee outside counsel regarding financing and related matters.
• Review and update leases and ensure compliance with landlord-tenant laws.
• Manage litigation and contract administration including NDAs and vendor agreements.
