Job summary

TTI Consumer Power Tools, Inc. in Anderson, SC is seeking an in-house Intellectual Property Counsel to lead patent clearance, preparation and prosecution, and related strategies.

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in engineering, a J.D., is admitted to the USPTO and a state bar, and has 3–5 years of patent experience in a law firm or corporate setting to support product development and licensing efforts.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice before the USPTO.
• Civil/board certification not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage patent clearance, preparation and prosecution.
• Advise engineering on clearance, patentability, and related strategies.
• Conduct invention mining and brainstorming with TTICPT personnel.
• Conduct patent clearance and patentability searches.
• Manage portions of TTICPT’s patent portfolio.
• Conduct competitor monitoring.
• Participate in IP Steering Committee meetings.
• Provide support in patent licensing, enforcement, and controversy matters.
• Contribute to optimizing processes and procedures.
