The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) in Los Angeles seeks an experienced In-House Litigation/General Counsel to serve as the CEO's primary legal advisor. This hands-on role covers active litigation, governance, and complex transactions in a dynamic environment.

You will be a strategic, no-nonsense problem solver who can master new legal areas quickly, manage multiple priorities, and provide independent, sound counsel under pressure.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active California Bar in good standing.
• 20+ years of diverse legal practice.
• Active, recent trial experience in civil and business litigation.
• Strong background in business disputes, contract litigation, employment and real estate.
• Experience with corporate governance, compliance, transactional work, and strategic counsel.
• Excellent negotiation, drafting, and risk management skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort managing ambiguity.
• Ability to operate independently and provide strategic counsel to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Handle and personally try civil litigation including business disputes, contract disputes, real estate disputes, and employment issues
• Serve as primary legal advisor on a broad range of corporate legal matters
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements and transactions
• Advise on corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory matters
• Select and manage outside counsel relationships when specialized expertise is needed, controlling strategy and budget
• Identify legal risks early and develop practical, business-minded solutions
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic business initiatives

About the Role

A well-established Los Angeles-area company is seeking an exceptional In-House Litigation/General Counsel to serve as primary legal advisor to the CEO. This is a hands-on, long-term role for a seasoned attorney who thrives in dynamic environments and can handle everything from active litigation to corporate governance to complex transactions.

You'll be a no-nonsense problem solver and strategic advisor. You should master new legal areas quickly, find solutions where others see obstacles, manage multiple fast-moving priorities without sacrificing quality, and operate independently with sound judgment under pressure.

What You'll Do

• Handle and personally try civil litigation including business disputes, contract disputes, real estate disputes, and employment issues
• Serve as primary legal advisor on a broad range of corporate legal matters
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements and transactions
• Advise on corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory matters

Preferred

• Background at a large law firm of 50+ attorneys
• Prior in-house or general counsel experience

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $300,000 - $650,000, depending on qualifications and experience
