Job summary

Aether is seeking a hands-on, generalist IT lead to support a ~40-person team across two Bay Area sites. You’ll own IT operations, solve problems, and shape systems for device management, security, automation, and integrations.

This is the first dedicated IT hire. You’ll manage help desk tasks, onboarding/offboarding, vendor coordination, and the rollout of MDM/SSO, AD/SAMBA, and network services while setting the standard for reliability and growth.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of IT experience, including startup exposure, with broad systems coverage.
• You will be the only IT person on the team for now, requiring versatility.
• Judgement in selecting, deploying and managing key IT tools at scale.

Responsibilities

• Help desk support across two Bay Area sites: hardware, software, and accounts.
• Establish and maintain a network SLA, including lab instruments.
• Onboarding/offboarding: accounts, hardware, lifecycle management.
• Coordinate with vendors/contractors on projects and manage relationships.
• Select, deploy and manage IT systems like SSO, endpoint security, and backups.
