Job summary

Standard Bots, based in Glen Cove, NY and Manhattan, seeks its first in-house General Counsel to own the full contract lifecycle across sales, partnerships, and procurement. You will build playbooks and standard terms to help deals close faster and serve as the trusted legal partner for employment matters and international expansion.

Most time will be spent on commercial contracts, with additional oversight of privacy, product liability, employment, and corporate matters, including engagement

Qualifications

• J.D. and admission to practice in New York required.
• 6–10 years of experience focused on commercial contracts and technology transactions.
• Experience with hardware, industrial technology, robotics, or manufacturing companies.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate customer agreements, NDAs, supply agreements, and reseller agreements with major counterparties.
• Standardize terms, create contract clause playbook, and set escalation triggers for top terms.
• Structure liability, indemnification, insurance, and warranty terms for an industrial hardware company.
• Negotiate data processing agreements, privacy terms, and AI-use provisions; support defense compliance requirements (DFARS, CMMC, NIST SP 800-171).
• Support international expansion — subsidiary formation and cross-border contracting; coordinate with local counsel.
• Handle employment matters, including template agreements and multi-state restrictive covenants; manage disputes with outside counsel.
• Support strategic transactions (LOIs, investments, partnerships) including diligence and IP terms.
• Serve as the single point of contact for legal questions and manage outside counsel scope and spend.
