Job summary

Management and Training Corporation (MTC) in Centerville, Utah seeks an in-house attorney to assist the General Counsel on labor and employment law, regulatory compliance, and HR risk management.

You will advise HR, draft employment agreements and policies, handle wage/hour matters, audits responses, and coordinate with outside counsel.

Requirements include a law degree, Utah State Bar admission, at least five years’ relevant experience, with strong judgment and communication.

Qualifications

• Law degree from an accredited law school, admission to the Utah State Bar (house counsel admission acceptable) and a minimum of five years directly related experience.
• Excellent judgment, insight and problem solving skills.
• Excellent verbal, written communication, presentation skills.
• Federal government contract and Service Contract Act experience preferred.
• Must be willing and able to travel.
• Unless waived by management, valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Support the general counsel in identifying potential legal and compliance risks while providing consultative advice on labor and employment issues.
• Maintain knowledge about labor and employment law across multi-jurisdictional environment.
• Liaise with HR on labor and employment matters, including litigation when requested.
• Advise on wage and hour issues and compliance with the Service Contract Act.
• Develop and review corporate policies, SOPs, and the employee handbook.
• Assist with immigration issues (I-9, work visa) as instructed.
• Draft employment, severance, non-compete, confidentiality, and contractor agreements.
• Negotiate and draft collective bargaining agreements and respond to petitions.
