Job summary

Botrista, Inc. in Chicago seeks an experienced in-house attorney to join our Global Legal Team as the first dedicated counsel in the U.S. You will report to the Chief Legal Officer and serve as primary counsel for nationwide business development teams, with potential cross-border projects.

The role requires high-volume commercial contracting, institutional procurement expertise for K-12 and Higher Ed, and strong understanding of federal food safety regulations across 50 states.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school
• State Bar admission or eligibility for immediate registration
• 10+ years of legal practice, preferably with top-tier firm training and in-house tech/robotics/food-tech startup experience
• Preferably familiarity with government/institutional contracting or food-service sector regulations
• Experience with large publicly traded food & beverage companies is a plus

Responsibilities

• Support national business negotiations, MSAs, pilot/testing, and HaaS contracts for chain restaurants and universities
• Lead procurement processes for K-12 districts, ensuring compliance with NSLP and state procurement rules
• Monitor and ensure compliance with NSF/ANSI 169, FDA/USDA food safety regulations across all states
• Manage product liability risk and safety certifications for robotics equipment
• Coordinate data privacy considerations for student meal integrations and FERPA compliance
• Develop and maintain scalable contract templates and playbooks
